Cruisetours - Discover Alaska, Europe by Land and by Sea

Early in the calendar year is the perfect time to book a cruisetour: a special type of vacation that combines a cruise and a land-based vacation. While the carefree comfort of a cruise is a perfect way to introduce yourself to a new destination, combining it with a land tour will take your vacation to a new level of excitement.

Cruisetours are available for a variety of destinations: two of the most popular are Alaska and Europe. A delightful array of cruisetour lengths and itineraries are available for each.

For example, one of Royal Caribbean’s Alaska cruisetours is a 12-night package that begins with a six-day land vacation. Starting in Anchorage, guests ride glass-domed train cars to the quaint interior town of Talkeetna, then on to Denali and Fairbanks. Along the way, guests view the spectacular scenery of Alaska and can try activities such as glacier walking, dog sledding and whitewater rafting.
While the landscape is rugged, the accommodations are not: guests dine and sleep at some of the finest hotels and lodges in Alaska. For the second half of this cruisetour, guests board a beautiful Royal Caribbean ship. Sail past the awe-inspiring Hubbard Glacier on your way to port calls in Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan and Icy Strait Point, plus a trip through the Inside Passage.

If you prefer a European vacation, one of Celebrity Cruises’ many cruisetour options is a land tour of Spain followed by a Mediterranean cruise. A 15-night cruisetour package begins in Madrid with two days of sightseeing, shopping and dining. Then, a high-speed train zips guests to Barcelona for three days of exploring the city’s incredible architecture, history and modern sensibilities. On day five, guests board a Celebrity ship to cruise to Marseilles, Nice, Florence, Rome, Corsica, Gibraltar, Casablanca and Tangier.

Some cruisetour vacationers prefer to take the cruise portion first, which allows them to unwind and prepare for the land-based portion of the tour. Others like to start with the land tour, using their time on the ship to absorb all they saw, heard and tasted on land. Whichever arrangement of land and cruise you choose, you can pay for it all in one cruisetour package price.
